Vietnam’s Power Generation Corporation 1 (GENCO 1), a unit of the country’s state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN), has signed deals with seven partners to sell some 2.9Mt of fly ash from the Duyen Hai 1 and 3 thermal power plants in the southern province of Tra Vinh. ThaiGroup JSC, formerly known as Xuan Thanh Group JSC, has inaugurated the second production line of the Xuan Thanh cement plant in the northern province of Ha Nam, Vietnam. Vietnam's exports rise to 12.17Mt in first eight months

According to preliminary statistics released by the General Department of Customs, Vietnam exported 12.17Mt of cement and clinker for a value of US$430.63m in the first eight months of 2017. The cement volume was up 20.5 per cent and the clinker volume up 13.2 per cent over the same period last year. Vietnamese market grows 6% YoY in 9M17

Vietnamese cement producers sold an estimated 59.27Mt of cement in the first nine months of this year, according to the country’s Ministry of Construction. This represents a six per cent YoY rise and 74 per cent of its 2017 target. Around 45.28Mt of cement were sold in the domestic market, which expanded by four per cent YoY. Some 13.99Mt were exported. In September, domestic sales remained stable YoY at 5.2Mt with exports reported to reach 1.45Mt.

Vietnam's Long Son Line 2 enters operation

Long Son Co Ltd has successfully brought its second production line of its Long Son cement plant in Thanh Hoa, into production, raising the plant’s capacity to 14,000tpd (5Mta). Located in Dong Son, in the town of Bim Son, the works counts as one of the country’s largest cement works, according to Viet Nam News.

Vicem appoints new general director

Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) has appointed Bui Hong Minh general director. Mr Minh, 46, has held the position of deputy general director since 2013. Before that, he worked at But Son and Ha Tien cement companies. He became director of Bim Son Cement Company in 2011 prior to joining Vicem.
