Cement and clinker demand in Vietnam is expected to edge up by 4-5 per cent in 2020, according to the country's Ministry of Construction (MoC). Cementos Argos' Rioclaro plant has started its new 0.45Mta calcined clay production line involving an investement of US$78m investment for the manufacture and distribution of green cement. HeidelbergCement has announced a 4.3 per cent YoY increase in group revenue to EUR18.851bn in its preliminary results for 2019. On a like-for-like (LfL) basis, the rise moderated to 2.1 per cent YoY. The result from current operations advanced 8.8 per cent YoY to EUR2.186bn, or 4.5 per cent growth LfL. However, the company’s cement and clinker sales volumes fell 3.1 per cent in 2019 to 125.9Mt. Cemex records flat net sales of US$3.3bn in 4Q19

Cemex announced that its 4Q19 net sales remained flat at US$3.3bn and fell for the full year by one per cent to US$13.1bn. Operating EBITDA, on a like-for-like basis, fell by 15 per cent in 4Q19 to US$554m and fell by 10 per cent for the full year to US$2.4bn. Total cement sales by Vietnamese cement producers increased 13 per cent YoY and five per cent MoM to 9,573,455t in December 2019, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). US cement sales show modest gain in 2019

Cement sales edged up to US$12.5bn in 2019, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Of this total 70-75 per cent of sales were to ready-mixed concrete producers, 10 per cent to concrete product manufacturers, 8-10 per cent to contractors and 5-12 to other customers. Buzzi Unicem's sales volumes during 2019 exceeded the level reached in the previous year in all the areas where it operates, thanks to the robust growth recorded in the USA. Moroccan cement deliveries by members of the country’s cement association, APC, slipped to 1,038,250t in November 2019, down 2.5 per cent from 1,064,498t in November 2018, according to data published by the country’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation.
