ACC shows 45% increase in profit for the 3Q19

India’s ACC (LafargeHolcim) saw its consolidated net profit rise 44.7 per cent YoY to INR3.03bn (US$42.25m) in the 3Q19, on the back of a three per cent climb in net sales to INR34.64bn. Blackstone Group Inc (KKR & Co) are reported to be contemplating a bid for Indian conglomerate Emami Group and Emami Cement Ltd. Bloomberg reports that TPG Capital is also considering a bid for Emami Cement Ltd and may seek a partner for the project. Cement sales in Brazil increased 5.3 per cent to 4.7Mt in September 2019 when compared with the same month in the previous year, according to SNIC, the country’s cement association. Lehigh Hanson to break ground on US$600m Mitchell project

US-based Lehigh Hanson Inc is set to break ground this week on its US$600m expansion and modernisation project at its plant in Mitchell, Indiana. The plans were first announced in July last year and are expected to take four years, according to Inside Indiana Business. It will be the company’s largest expansion and modernisation project in north America and is expected to create 50 jobs.

Jidong Cement to acquire 49% stake in Beijing BBMG Mangrove

China’s BBMG Corp is set to sell its entire 49 per cent stake in Beijing BBMG Mangrove to Jidong Cement for CNY1.72bn (US$241m). Jidong Cement is expected to fund the acquisition of the waste management company in an all-cash deal, according to a statement by BBMG. The proceeds from the divestment will be used to meet BBMG’s working capital requirements.

Argentina’s cement consumption fell 7.2 per cent YoY and 10.4 per cent MoM to 938,972t in September 2019, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Total cement sales by Vietnamese producers slipped four per cent to 8.091Mt  in August 2019 when compared with the year-ago period, according to data by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA).
