Finnsementii has announced that it is investing EUR12m in a new blastfurnace slag mill at its Raahe plant in Finland. The plant, which will be built on the Lapaluoto industrial site, will double Raahe's existing milling capacity. Cement consumption in Peru expands 6% in August

Demand for cement in Peru has increased 6.3 per cent YoY to 1.052Mt in August 2019 when compared with 0.989Mt in the year-ago period, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Domestic dispatches advanced 6.4 per cent to 1.043Mt in August, up from 0.981Mt in August 2018 and 0.982Mt in July 2019. DG Khan Cement Company Ltd (DGKC) of Pakistan has announced its financial results for FY19 on 16 September. It declared earning of net profit of PKR1.609bn (US$10.3m) (unconsolidated) as compared to PKR8.837bn earned in the same period last year. It shows profit hugely dropped by 81.8 per cent. GCC signs agreement for clean energy supply

Mexico’s Grupo Cementos Chihuahua (GCC) has signed an agreement with a US-based clean energy provider for the supply of solar and wind energy to its cement plant in Odessa, Texas, to fulfil 100 per cent of the facility’s electricity requirement. RAK Cement cancels cement plant acquisition plans

UAE-based Ras Al Khaimah Cement has reportedly cancelled a deal to acquire a cement plant and quarry as financing could not be arranged, according to Reuters. While the name of the plant and quarry were not released in the statement, the company had previously planned to acquire the Newtech cement plant and Al Banna quarry in Fujairah. However, the deal, valued at AED450m (US$122.5m), was pushed back to the 2Q19 due to incomplete financing procedures.

Apparent cement consumption in Brazil edged up 2.9 per cent YoY to 5.1Mt in August 2019, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Colombia’s cement consumption increased 12.4 per cent YoY in July 2019 to 1.113Mt, reports the country’s statistics office, DANE.
