JK Cement reports 212% increase in net profit

India’s JK Cement has reported a 211.8 per cent YoY increase in standalone net profit for the quarter ending 30 June, rising to INR1.53bn (US$21.86m) from INR493.2m. Net revenue of the company rose 19 per cent to INR132.7bn from INR111.5bn. During the April-June quarter, operating expenses advanced 6.1 per cent to INR102.4bn from INR9.65bn. However, operating profit surged 102 per cent to INR30.3bn, compared with INR1.5bn in the year-ago period.

Kinshasa cement prices sees 11% hike

The price of a bag of grey cement in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, has increased to CDF15,000 (US$9.08) from CDF13,500, according the national press agency ACP. Cement shipments in USA slip to 9.3Mt

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico fell to 9.3Mt in May 2019, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). LafargeHolcim posted a like-for-like (LfL) net sales growth of 3.5 per cent YoY in the first half of 2019. Dangote Cement Plc announced its unaudited results for 1H19 with group revenue reaching NGN467.7bn (US$1.291bn), down three per cent, and group EBITDA at NGN217.9bn, down 11.4 per cent. Ciments du Maroc to acquire Atlantic Cement and Cimsud

Ciments du Maroc has announced it has signed an agreement with Anouar Invest for the acquisition of two cement companies, Atlantic Ciment and Cimsud. Atlantic Cement is currently building an integrated cement plant in Settat province. Cimsud has a 0.5Mta grinding unit at Laâyoune. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the second half of this year and is subject to meeting several conditions.

GCC announces overall increase in sales for 1H19

Mexico's Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) has announced a 1.3 per cent YoY increase in sales to US$403.9m for the first six months of 2019, against US$398.8m in the year-ago period.
