MI Cement to set up new 8400tpd line

Bangladesh’s MI Cement Factory Ltd has announced that it will set up its sixth cement unit in Muktagachha, Munshiganj, at a cost of BDT6bn (US$71.54m). The new line is expected to have a capacity of 8400tpd and enter commercial operation by 2021. Upon completion, the company’s total capacity will rise 76 per cent to 19,400tpd from 11,000tpd. Puerto Rican cement sales surge 39% in 2018

Cement sales in Puerto Rico advanced by 38.9 per cent to 14.3m bags of 42.5kg, or 607,750t in 2018. The figure is the highest reported since 2014 and has been attributed mainly to the island’s reconstruction drive following Hurricane Maria. Cement output reached 13.2m bags, or 561,000t, representing a 44.6 per cent rise YoY when compared with 2017, when production volumes fell by 14.2 per cent, according to Esmerk Latin American News.

Exports help Saudi cement sales rise 7% in December

Cement consumption in Peru increased 5.8 per cent YoY to 1.02Mt in December 2018, according to the latest data from Peru’s cement association, Asocem. Iran produced 41Mt of cement during the nine months to 21 December 2018, of which 4.8Mt were exported, reports the Iran Cement Association. Cement sales in the Brazilian market remained largely stable at 3.964Mt in December 2018 from 3.97Mt in December 2017, according to the latest data from the country’s cement association, SNIC. BBMG to sell 7 cement companies to Jidong Cement

BBMG Corp has announced that it will sell the entire equity interests in seven cement companies to China’s Jidong Cement for a total consideration of CNY1.54bn (US$227.06m). BBMG and Jidong have also agreed to contribute CNY1bn to the registered capital of their joint venture, BBMG Jidong Cement (Tangshan) Co Ltd.
