Holcim Bangladesh has completed expansion of its Meghnaghat grinding plant, achieving an additional capacity of 0.7Mta. Colombian market grows 14.7% in May

Dispatches and output of cement in Colombia rose by 14.7 and 15.3 per cent, respectively in May, according to domestic statistics office, Dane. May deliveries reached 1.034Mt while production rose to 1.071Mt. Three leading Pakistan cement producers are gearing up to acquire a majority holding in Lafarge Pakistan, with the bidding process expected to be concluded in the coming weeks. HeidelbergCement has started its Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) to optimise the working processes in cement production. Holcim NZ gets set to increase imports

Holcim New Zealand has confirmed its Westport cement plant will close by the second half of 2016 as the company now has all the final approvals to go ahead with its investment to build two 30,000t import terminals. Spain: May cement demand down 2.9%

Cement consumption in Spain reported a 2.9 per cent drop in May to 978,688t, which is 28,849t less than the same month of last year, domestic cement association, Oficemen has said. The latest figure brings cement consumption for the year to date to 4,229,479t, down 3.5 per cent when compared with January-May 2013. Oficemen said it has been the first May since 1965 that cement consumption did not surpass the 1Mt mark.

Saudi cement sector is currently showing signs of recovery, with demand beginning to return to its normal levels, a new report by NCB Capital reveals.
