Cemento Rocafuerte opens Belize's first cement plant

Cemento Rocafuerto, a subsidiary of Guatemala-based Cemento Progreso, has opened Belize’s first cement plant at Mile 34 of the George Price Highway, near the capital Belmopan, in the presence of the country’s Prime Minister, John Briceño. Steppe Cement sees sales volume rise 10%

Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has seen its cement sales volumes rise 10 per cent YoY to 840,661t in the first half of 2021, compared to 764,752t in the first six months of last year. Turnover also advanced 22 per cent YoY to KZT16,657m (US$38.87m) from KZT13,677m. The average ex-factory cement price in the 1H21 was KZT16,571/t against KZT14,727/t. Belarusian Cement Plant reports 7% production increase

Belarusian Cement Plant has reported a 7.3 per cent YoY rise in production to 710,000t of cement in the first five months of 2021. The volume of production in actual prices rose 14.2 per cent to BYN115.9m (US$45.39m) during the period. The company reported BYN7m in sales profit in January-May 2021, with half of this amount made in May alone.

Cement consumption in Argentina sees 21% hike in June

Argentina's cement market expanded by 20.5 per cent YoY and by 10% MoM to 961,340t in June 2021, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. Domestic demand was entirely supplied by Argentine cement producers, who produced 970,540t in June, up 20.6 per cent YoY and 9.8 per cent MoM. CSN confirms acquisition of Elizabeth Cimentos

Brazil’s Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), the largest steel company in Brazil and Latin America, has reached an agreement to acquire Elizabeth Cimentos for BRL1.08bn (US$214m). The deal has been made through its subsidiary, CSN Cimentos, and will boost its cement capacity in the northeast of the country by 1.3Mta, bringing it to around 6Mta in total.

Indonesian cement consumption up 19% YoY in May

Indonesian cement demand decreased by 1Mt to 3.68Mt in May 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI). Colombian cement sales increased 15.5 per cent YoY to 815,400t in May 2021 from 705,900t in May 2020, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE.
