Portland and blended cement shipments, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico, saw a 19 per cent YoY increase to 9.7Mt in April 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The leading cement-consuming states were Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Ohio, who accounted for a combined share of 40 per cent of total shipments. Cemex begins international green hydrogen project

Cemex, renewable energy company Enertrag, and electrolysis company Sunfire are launching 'Concrete Chemicals', a new hydrogen project to decarbonise the cement industry. Spanish cement exports have seen growth slow to 35.9 per cent YoY to 3.8Mt in the first half of 2021, down from 38.2 per cent in the 5M21, according to Spanish cement association, Oficemen. Dangote acquires 20,000 vehicles to improve distribution

Nigeria’s Dangote Cement has acquired 20,000 additional vehicles to improve the distribution of its products across the country. Hungary's government has levied a 90 per cent excess-profit tax on some producers of construction materials from 9 July, in an effort aimed at curbing surging prices.
