LafargeHolcim subsidiary Holcim México saw the commissioning of its new 0.65Mta grinding plant in Umán, Yucatán. The Umán plant will be supplied with clinker from production facilities in Macuspana, Tabasco, and Orizaba, Veracruz. India’s NCL Industries has announced an INR3bn (US$40.4m) expansion and modernisation plan to boost its total cement capacity to 3.6Mta by 2022. LafargeHolcim’s Carboneras plant in Almeria, Spain, increased its use of alternative fuels by 34 per cent YoY to 80,900t in 2020. Rwanda’s Cimerwa has announced a 14 per cent YoY increase in revenue to RWF30bn (US$30.07m) for the first half of the financial year, ended 31 March 2021. Sinai Cement Co approved the sales of its shares in Sinai White Portland Cement Co based on the fair value of Sinai White’s share, according to a filing to the Egyptian Exchange. Sinai Cement Co held a general assembly on 17 June to ratify the business continuity of the company as well as its financial results for 2019 and 2020. Brazilian steelmaker CSN is in talks to acquire Cimento Elizabeth for roughly US$250m, the Valor Economico newspaper reports.
