The US Department of Labor has filed a lawsuit against Houston-based Cemex Inc. for failing to properly pay overtime back wages amounting to more than $5 million to about 2,000 ready mix drivers from eight states in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The cement factory in Nuevitas, eastern Cuba, has resumed production after being damaged by Hurricane Ike. Brigades of skilled workers repaired the damage on pipes and roofs, thus creating conditions to resume cement production.
