Cementos Otorongo to start new plant construction in April, Peru15 January 2008, Published under Cement NewsPeruvian firm Cementos Otorongo, controlled by Cimpor, will begin construction of a cement plant in Matarani, in Arequipa department in April, according to production minister Rafael Rey. Cimpor announced the US$125mn investment for the plant’s construction in November 2007. The facility will produce 650,000t of cement annually, equivalent to 10% of national consumption. Egypt’s Suez Cement Co (SCC) boosted its price to 377.5 Egyptian pounds (US$68.34/46.74 euro) per tonne cement from 347.5 pounds ($62.91/43.02 euro) as of January 10, 2008.
