Peru’s 2007 production rises 7.4% YoY

Peru’s overall cement production rose 7.4% in 2007 to 6.21Mt from 5.78Mt in 2006, the National Association of Cement Producers, or Asocem, said Tuesday.     Cement production in Peru has grown as the economy exands. GDP is forecast to have expanded by some 8.3% last year.     Asocem said that cement exports totaled 333,014t in 2007, down 47% from 633,244t in the previous year.    

Beijing BBMG Group to clinker lines in Hebei, China

Beijing-headed BBMG Group, a building material conglomerate in China, has decided to invest CNY 800m in building up cement clinker production lines in Zanhuang County, Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province.     The first line with daily capacity of 2500t will complete construction before the end of June 2008, while the second 5000tpd line will be ready for production before the end of 2009. Cement production down by 3.6% to 1.01Mt in December

Ukranian cement production fell by 3.6 per cent, compared with December 2006, down to 1.01Mt, according to the State Statistics Committee.   Cement production fell 13.3 per cent compared to November.   In the January-December 2007 period production of cement rose by 9.1%, compared with the same period of 2006, to 15Mt.    

Indonesia’s 2007 cement consumption up 6.6 per cent

Indonesia’s domestic cement consumption rose 6.6 per cent last year to 34.17Mt, data from the Indonesian Cement Association showed, beating an industry forecast for around five per cent growth. Mexico Grupo Cementos Chihuahua buys alliance concrete in US

Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) said Tuesday it has acquired Alliance Concrete Inc of Iowa, boosting its position in that US region.     In a filing with the Mexican Stock Exchange, GCC said said the acquisition will give it a presence close to US markets where it already operates and a platform for growth in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.     GCC didn’t disclose the terms of the acquisition, which it expects will contribute immediately to earnings growth.     Alliance has ...

HeidelbergCement expects EUR350m cost savings from Hanson
