RMB1.3bn Cement Production Project Established in Shangsi

China Resources Cement Holdings Limited formally signed a letter of intent on October 13th with the Shangsi County People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on a 3mt/y dry cement clinker project with a total investment of RMB1.3bn, according to the latest information released by the company.

Pikalevskiy Cement to boost production

Pikalevskiy Cement (Leningrad region, Pikalevo), a part of the Eurocement Group, in 2007 is planning to boost output of cement to 2,14Mt. In Jan-Sept 2007 output of cement went up by over 45% versus the same period 2006. In 2006 Pikalevskiy Cement made 1,598,000t of cement. In 2007 investments in modernization of the company’s enterprises will grow 2 -fold - to RUR140mln, the company officially reported.  

Holcim invests in Rouen plant, France

Holcim is to invest 48m euros in constructing a grinding plant at the French port of Rouen. The plant is to have a capacity of 580,000 tonnes per year for slag and clinker produced at the group’s French and Belgian cement works.     A total of 16 new jobs will be created at the plant, which is due to become operational in 2009.  

Russian company to build cement plant in Khanty-Mansi district

The government of Russia’s Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District and Russian company Zavod Elkap have signed an agreement under which the company will build a cement plant in the city of Surgut, the regional governor’s press service said Thursday.     The investment in the plant’s construction will amount more than 4.5 billion rubles.     The agreement was signed at the international investment forum Yugra-2007 in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk on Wednesday.     The plant is expected to be launch...

Peru’s cement producers on Thursday said a decision by the finance ministry to drop import duties on cement will hurt them and favor Mexico’s Cemex.   In published advertisements, the national cement producers association and a number of companies, including Cementos Lima called on President Alan Garcia to modify a decree ordering the import fee reductions.
