Investments in Peru cement plants expansion seen over $300m

Akmenes Cementas (Akmene Cement), the sole Lithuania’s cement manufacturer, reported LTL179.2m (EUR 51.94m) in sales for the first nine months of 2007, a surge of 37.6 per cent versus the year-earlier figure of 130.28 million litas. In September alone, the sales grew by 34 per cent, to LTL 28.04m, from LTL 20.92m in September 2006. Pakistan’s Lucky Q1 net profit up 53 per cent

Pakistan’s biggest cement manufacturer, Lucky Cement, reported on Monday a 53 per cent rise in earnings for the quarter ending on Sept. 30, which analysts said was due to higher sales and cement prices.     Lucky, in a statement to the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), reported net profit of 730.60 million rupees for the July-September period, up from 478 million rupees in the corresponding period a year ago.     This translates into an earning per share of 2.77 rupees.     "The growth in ear...

UltraTech Cement (UCL), the country’s second largest cement maker and part of the Aditya Birla Group, has posted a 45.84% rise in its net profit at Rs 185.86 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 as against Rs 127.44 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Portland Holdings Limited (PHL), a subsidiary of  Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC), could shut down due to lack of raw materials.
