Cement prices in Mumbai could rise by Rs 3-5 per bag this Diwali, inching closer to the Rs 270 mark. Azerbaijan produced over 1.285Mta of cement in the Jan-Sept 2007 period – an increase pf 5.6% YoY.   Garadagh Cement, the country’s largest producer, is capable of manufacturing 1-1.4Mta, which is able to meet 50% of the national demand. The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) may decide to reopen the cement merger deal between Vassiliko Cement (VCW) and Cyprus Cement (CCC) according to the new Chairman of the Commission Panayotis Kallis. Shree Cement Ltd on Tuesday posted net profit of 1.06 billion rupees for the July-Sept quarter, trailing analysts’ forecast. A Reuters poll of analysts had forecast net profit of 1.15 billion rupees against 0.78 billion rupees in the same period last year.
