JK Cements today posted a 114 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 72.7 crore in the quarter ended on September 30, compared to Rs 34 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. The turnover of the company rose 33 per cent to Rs 356.4 crore, against Rs 268.2 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, the company said in release. JK cement is one of the leading cement manufacturers in the country with a total capacity of 4.4Mta.

Oborontsement to invest in cement plants in Belgorod region

Oborontsement ZAO plans to construct three cement plants in the Belgorod region with capacity of 3Mt each. Construction of the first two enterprises will begin in 2008, with commissioning in 2010. Rising cement sales buoy Grasim Q2 net

Diversified Birla group company, Grasim Industries, has reported a 50% rise in its net profit for the second quarter, led mainly by its cement and viscose staple fibre businesses (VSF), two fast-growing sectors that feed the construction and garment industries. The company, which also has interests in chemicals, sponge iron and textiles, said its net profit in the July-September period rose to Rs 620 crore, from Rs 414 crore last year. The Jammu and Kashmir Cements (JKCL) on Saturday assured the state Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad that work on its new cement plant at Khrew will be completed by April next. Taiwan Cement Corp will continue expansion in China, with the company’s chairman Koo Cheng-yun expecting the country’s cement market to enjoy strong growth until 2020, local news reported.
