PPC’s R4bn empowerment transaction to be completed early next year

Despite recent Federal Reserve actions, the sub-prime crisis will adversely impact investment and public spending through 2010, leading the Portland Cement Association (PCA) to again adjust its cement consumption forecast. Shree Cement to set up 6Mt plant in Madhya Pradesh

Shree Cement Ltd today signed an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh government for setting up a 6Mt cement plant at Katni at an investment of Rs 2000 crore.    A company spokesman said that the a 50 MW power plant would also come up there.     Shree Cement at present has a production capacity of 8Mta at its plant located in Rajasthan. Semapa says Secil’s planned Angolan cement line approved

Semapa SGPS said that the Angolan government has approved its initial investment of around EUR90m in a cement and clinker production line for its Secil unit’s Angolan division.     Semapa said the production line will have a capacity of over 700,000tpa, which could be doubled in a later phase.     The EUR90m investment includes energy production costs and infrastructures, it added.  

Dalmia to invest INR14bn to expand capacity

China’s cement sales income increases in first eight months

China generated RMB239.902bn in cement sales income in the first eight months of 2007, up by 24.09% YoY, with the profits at RMB12.307bn, up by 24.09% YoY, according to the latest information  by the National Development and Reform Commission. Egypt grants licences for six cement plants

Egypt granted six licences on Sunday to build greenfield cement plants as part of efforts to increase domestic supply, the first to Nile Valley cement for E£251m, officials said. Local affiliates of Cemex and Lafarge also won licences to expand production by 1.5Mta.
