Holcim invests in Rouen plant, France

Holcim is to invest EUR48m  in constructing a grinding plant at the French port of Rouen. The plant is to have a capacity of 580,000tpa for slag and clinker produced at the group’s French and Belgian cement works.     A total of 16 new jobs will be created at the plant, which is due to become operational in 2009.

ACC 3Q Net Profit +30% On Higher Cement Prices, Sales

Qatar companies show interest to invest $2.5bn in Pakistan

A number of companies from Qatar have shown interest to invest $2.5 billion in Pakistan in finance cement plant, power generation and hotel sectors. Chief Executive of Pak-Qatar General Takaful Limited Waqar-ud-Din told Radio Pakistan Tuesday in Karachi that Islamic Bank with investment of $100m would be established in Pakistan. He said companies included in Takaful would also introduce their products and services in property, automobile and engineering sectors.    

Hainan’s average cement price increases

The average transaction prices of portland cement in Hainan Province were RMB341.11/t, RMB351.67/t and RMB411.67/t in the first three quarters of 2007 respectively, up by 9.5%, 16.79% and 33.33% year-on-year, according to the latest information released by the Hainan Province Price Monitoring Center. The price in the fourth quarter presently reaches RMB477.5/t, up by 50.99% year-on-year.

India Sep cement sales up 3.7 per cent on year

Cement sales in India rose 3.7 per cent in September to 12.7Mt from 12.2Mt in the year ago period, the Cement Manufacturers’ Association said.     Production rose 4.9 percent to 12.8Mt last month, against 12.2Mt a year earlier, according to provisional figures compiled by the Cement Manufacturers’ Association.  

Hima Cement to invest US$100m

Hima Cement is set to invest $100 million (about Shs17.5 billion) in the expansion of its plant in Kasese in a bid to boost production capacity. When complete, the new cement production line will be as big as that of the mother plant in Kenya and will be among the largest in Africa.
