TNPL to set up mini cement plant

Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) has proposed to establish a mini-cement plant adjacent to the paper factory at Kagithapuram in Karur district, about 115 kms from here. Speaking to reporters, TNPL Managing Director V Murthy said that the cement plant of 400 tonnes per day (TPD) capacity is meant to convert lime sludge accruing in the paper plant to cement. Indonesia Cement consumption down in April

After strong growth in March, cement consumption in Indonesia shrank 10.45 per cent in April compared to the previous month, to 2.4Mt. On an annual basis however, consumption grew by 2.2 per cent from 2.35 million tons in April and by 7.15 per cent to 9.984Mt in the first four months of this year, the Indonesian Cement Association (ASI) said. Tian An China Investment, a Mainland property developer, will sell its controlling stake in a Hong Kong-listed cement maker at a discount to focus on its core business. Tian An will sell all of its 55 per cent stake in Shanghai Allied Cement at HK$0.70 a share to raise HK$279.3m. GHACEM Limited of Ghana has increased the ex-factory price of a bag of cement from ¢59.225 to ¢62,100, citing increase in production cost. The increase took effect from May 2.
