Century plans mega cement expansion

Century Textiles and Industries has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that it is embarking on a Rs 790-crore expansion that would raise the cement capacity at its plant in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra by 2Mta. The plant is operated by the company’s Manikgarh cement division at Gadchandur. Gresik to seek extra funds for new plant

PT Semen Gresik said it will seek Rp2.28 trillion (US$253m) in additional funds to build a new Rp3.5 trillion cement factory.  The company is currently only able to cover 35 per cent or Rp1.22 trillion of the total cost, its president Dwi Sutjipto said.   Sutjipto explained that the remainding 65 per cent of the cost will be acquired through either a bank loan, bond fund or other form of fund.   Construction is set to start in the second half of next year, he said.  

Cimsa to build new production line, Turkey

Cimsa announced that it would extend its investment in Eskisehir facility. The company will build a new modern grey cement production line with TRY 80.25mn (US$53.5m) investment in addition to previously decided clincer and cement production modernisation investments amounting TRY 30.75m. The new line will have a clinker production capacity of 2100tpd and cement capacity of 85tph. The investment will take start next month and planned to be completed by end-2007.

Cemex Asia Holding Ltd has handed over a 24.9 per cent stake in state cement maker PT Semen Gresik to the Rajawali Group concluding a US$337m deal.
