Vietnam plans to increase prices

The Vietnam Cement Association said it has proposed a road map for a cement price hike in a bid to compensate for the increasing prices of materials. The association said it proposed to raise the price of cement by VND50,000 (US$3.11) per tonne for this year, a rate that was generally supported by industry insiders and relevant ministries. Cement sales in the Southern African Customs Union, consisting of South Africa and four neighbours, gained 15 per cent in July, rising for a third month after a decline in April. Oman Cement Company 51 per cent owned by the Sultanate government, yesterday reported a 26.1 per cent rise in net profit to RO9.752 million during the first half year period ended June 2006 as against RO7.733 million recorded in the same period last year. Inekon Group to build Vietnam plant

Czech firm Inekon Group today signed a contract for the construction of a new cement factory for EUR115m (Kc3.3bn) in Vietnam with the management of Vietnamese company Phu Son Cement JSC.  Inekon Group is the general contractor, and PSG International is a sub-contractor. The Belarusian Cement Works (BCW) in Kostyukovichi, Mogilyov region, has begun the construction of a new cement kiln with a 600tpd capacity, an executive with the enterprise’s sales department told local reporters.     The kiln is expected to be put into operation in the second half of 2007.
