Eurocement Group Ukraine to build new lines

Eurocement Group Ukraine intends to construct a fifth line at its Baltsem works (Balakliia, Kharkiv region) and build a fourth line at the Pushka cement works (Kramatorsk, Donetsk region) by 2008, announced Mikhail Skorokhod, Eurocement Group’s president. Reconstruction of the line at Baltsem  will increase the plant’s production capacity by 1Mta of cement. The French financial firm, Societe Generale, will provide US$86m loan for the Ha Tien Cement Plant I to carry out a cement plant project in the Mekong Delta province of Binh Phuoc. The Indian cement sector is expected to post good numbers for April-June quarter despite a major correction in the benchmark Sensex and the government’s admonition of cement companies over abnormal price hikes. Third Thanh Hoa cement plant to be built, Vietnam

The Cong Thanh Cement Joint Stock Company began construction work on the third cement factory located in the central province of Thanh Hoa on Tuesday.  The VND920bn (US$57.6m) factory in Tinh Gia District will have an initial capacity of 1Mt of cement per year and 2.8Mta when fully operational. Cong Thanh Cement said the factory would employ 270 local workers when it opens in 2008.   

Volyn Cement output down, Ukraine

Volyn-cement company (Zdolbunov, Rivne region) decreased cement production by 5.7% or 8.6t to 141,300t compared to the same period of 2005, according to the Ukrcement Association’s press service. In June, the company reduced clinker production by 14%, or 17,000t to 104,100t compared with June 2005.

Locally produced cement prices remain stable, Pakistan

Contractors have launched a furious response to proposed increases in the cost of cement in the UAE. The UAE’s contractor association has vowed to fight for its members if cement prices are increased by US$2.70 (AED10) per tonne.
