Moroccan cement deliveries by members of the country’s cement association, APC, slipped to 1,038,250t in November 2019, down 2.5 per cent from 1,064,498t in November 2018, according to data published by the country’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. In 2019 total domestic cement production in Belarus increased 4.6 per cent YoY to 4.7Mt. Meanwhile, the country also imported 502,800t of cement worth more than US$28m, according to the National Statistical Committee. Demand for heavy-side building materials in Great Britain, including aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed concrete and mortar, has been weak throughout 2019, claims the Mineral Products Association (MPA). A shortage of cement is driving up prices in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The price of a 50kg bag of 32-grade cement has increased to CDF14,300 (US$8.46) from CDF14,000. For 42.5-grade cement the price has risen from 14,700 to 15,000/50kg bag. At retail level, prices vary between COF16,000-18,000.

Two new cement plants in Vietnam will go into operation this year, according to Nguyen Quang Cung, president of the Vietnam Cement Association.
