Israel allows temporary cement supply into Gaza Strip

Israel will temporarily allow the supply of cement and tyres to the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom trade crossing under Israeli control, according to a senior official. A report in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper says that a cement plant in Balkanabat, Turkmenistan, has mastered the production of sulphate-resistant cement. Poland’s Association of Cement Producers estimates that the production of cement in 2019 rose by around one per cent YoY to 19Mt. Azerbaijan produced around 3.4Mt of cement during 2019, a 1.4 per cent decrease compared to the previous year, according to the State Statistics Committee. The Indonesian cement market expanded 7.2 per cent YoY in December 2019 as 6.542Mt of cement were sold. In December 2018 total demand in Indonesia stood at 6.101Mt. Iran produced 41.5Mt of cement during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (21 March-21 November 2019) up 10 per cent compared with last year's corresponding period, according to data from the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade. According to Industries Minister, Reza Rahmani, Iran's cement production capacity stands at 86Mta. The Industries Ministry aims to increase this capacity to 120Mta by the fiscal 2021-22.
