Bestway Cement, Pakistan, has planned to start a project in Chakwal, having a capacity of 6000tpd and efforts are underway to revive Mustehkam Cement. Aditya Birla shipments up

Aditya Birla group, India’s top cement producer, said on Thursday its February cement shipments rose 16.1 per cent from a year ago to 2.54Mt. The group, including flagship Grasim Industries Ltd. and UltraTech Cement Company Ltd, produced 2.52Mt, up 13.3 per cent from a year ago, it said in a statement.

Gujarat Ambuja February cement shipments

Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd, India’s third-biggest cement maker, said on Wednesday its February shipments rose 15.6 per cent from a year earlier to 1.07Mt. Production in the same period totalled 1.05Mt, up 12.3 per cent from 0.94Mt a year earlier, the company said in a statement.  

Steppe Cement awards contract

Steppe Cement Ltd said its subsidiary Karcement in Kazakhstan has closed the tender process and has awarded the contract for reconstruction of the raw mills, pre-heater, kiln and cooler of line 5 to FL Smidth. The company said the contract price is within budget for the refurbishment of the line No 5. The total budget is US$73m. Steppe said line No 5 remains on schedule for re-commissioning by the end of 2007.

CIMA mulls cement assets sale to Vicat of France
