Construction of cement factory begins

The Vietnam Cement Corporation has started the construction of Cam Ranh Cement Factory at Cam Ranh Commune in central Khanh Hoa Province last week.   The VND451 billion factory, to be completed in 2008, will supply cement to markets in southern and central provinces as well as Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) provinces.

Saudi Cement Factory in Yemen

Saudi investor Hussein Attas has announced the completion of registering a cement factory in Yemen with a cost of US$533 million, and a production capacity of 3Mta. He said that there would be an announcement in the next few days on an international bid for the factory, and the start of a geological and technical study. The factory near Aden will be built to latest technical standards.

FLSmidth wins Egyptian plant order

Kazakhstan’s Yuzhpolimetall Industrial Corporation plans to build a US$50m cement plant with annual production capacity of at least 600,000t in the southern city of Kentau, company president Tursunbek Asanbayev told Interfax.  The project will be financed with bank loans.     Yuzhpolimetall is now negotiating with the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and China’s Development Bank. Competition violators warned in Russia

The chief of Russia’s anti-monopoly watchdog vowed Friday to step up competition protection and accused those who had violated Russia’s anti-monopoly legislation of fuelling spiraling levels of inflation. China Resources Cement in capacity push
