Cement Consumption in Spain up again

The cement consumption in Spain expanded 5.1 per cent year-on-year in the first half 2005 to 25.19Mt, the Spanish cement makers association Oficemen said on July 19, 2005.  In June 2005 alone, the cement consumption rose 3.4 per cent year-on-year. Vietnamese cement demand to rise

The Ministry of Construction has forecasted that cement demand in Vietnam in the remaining months of this year will rise by 10 per cent to more than 15Mt. The total demand this year is estimated at 29Mt. Eurocement to build new plant

Russia’s holding Eurocement Group plans to build a cement plant in Russia’s Voronezh Region, Irina Plotnikova, the spokeswoman for the regional governor told Prime-Tass Tuesday.    The Governor of the Voronezh Region Vladimir Kulakov and the President of Eurocement Group Mikhail Skorokhod have reached agreement on the construction, she said.   The production capacity of the plant is estimated at 2Mta, while investment in the project is to be about US$300m, she said.     Eurocement is current...

Colombian cement company Cementos del Caribe has called a July 29 meeting for stockholders to approve its merger with seven other cement companies, according to local news reports. Poland’s cement and clinker production falls YoY

Polish cement companies produced 49.39Mt of cement and 36.36Mt of clinker in the first half of 2005, a fall from first half of 2004, an SPC report released on July 13 stated.  The total sales of cement amounted to 48.44Mt from 54.18Mt a year earlier, with 46.16Mt sold in the country and 2.27Mt sold abroad. Clinker total sales amounted to 2.8Mt in H1, out of which 622,000t were exported. (PAP) 

Nuh Cimento to raise annual exports to $100m

Turkish cement and clinker producer Nuh Cimento will increase its annual exports to between $85m and $100m from the current $30m, following the launch of its third clinker production line in Hereke, northeastern Turkey.  The new line will increase Nuh Cimento’s clinker capacity to 4.2Mt from 2.8Mta.
