With the cement industry buoyant on revival of demand and surge in prices, Hemadri Cements Limited, a mini-cement company in Andhra Pradesh, has firmed up plans to reopen its plant which has been closed for the last four years.  Hemadri, which operates a 250,000tpa mini-cement plant near Jaggaiahpet in Krishna district, is reopening the plant in the first week of June. EBITDA for The Monarch Cement Company for its quarter ended March 31, 2004 was $2,552,643, a 232 per cent increase over the year earlier same quarter when Monarch Cement generated $769,860 in EBITDA. Monarch Cement has generated thirty-three consecutive quarters of positive EBITDA.  However, for Monarch Cement’s twelve months ended March 31, 2004 EBITDA was $17,357,183, compared with $20,716,610, a 16.2 per cent decrease over the comparable year earlier twelve months.

TPI gets green light to bid for partners

Peruvian cement producer Cementos Pacasmayo has posted a net profit of PEN15.74m (US$4.52m) for the first quarter of 2004, compared to PEN16.3m soles  for the same quarter of 2003. Cementos Pacasmayo’s operating profit stood at PEN32.65m US$9.37m for the first quarter of 2004, compared to PEN25.9m (US$7.4m) for the same quarter of 2003.
