Swiss Holcim to Invest Euro 2.8m in its Beloizvorski facilities

Holcim will invest 5.5 mln Bulgarian levs (Euro2.8m) in its Bulgarian subsidiary, cement maker Beloizvorski Cement in 2004, the managing director of Beloizvorski Cement, Todor Kostov, said on January 20, 2004.  The bulk of the funding will be invested by February 2004 when Beloizvorski Cement is scheduled to complete planned repair and resume cement production. India Associated Cement possible merger With Idcol

Associated Cement Companies Ltd (ACC), India's second-largest cement maker, said Tuesday it is considering to merge unit Idcol Cement Ltd. with the company.  In a filing with the stock exchange, ACC said it is likely to decide on the merger at a board meeting scheduled Jan. 23.  ACC had recently bought an 86.79 per cent stake in Idcol Cement for 1.76 billion rupees ($1=INR45.42).

Centex Construction Q3 profit rise

Australian building materials company, Boral, continues to negotiate the takeover of Adelaide Brighton. Boral has increased its bid for the cement company by $A0.05 to $A1.60. This values the business at about $A870 million with $A200 million in debt. The new offer is supported by the four independent directors. Dontsement cuts output

In October-December 2003, cement production company Dontsement (Amvrosiivka, Donetsk region) reduced its production volume by 17.5 per cent from July-September.
