The Ghacem Foundation of the Ghana Cement Company Limited has donated 100 bags of cement to Kotokuom near Nkawie in the Atwima District of Ghana for the rehabilitation of schools in the town. Swiss cement sales stood at 3.699Mt in 2003, down by 1.9 per cent year-on-year, the Swiss cement industry association Cemsuisse said on January 12, 2004.  Cemsuisse expected an up to 5.0 per cent annual drop in cement sales for 2003. St. Marys Cement Inc, a Toronto, Canada-based cement production unit of Brazil's industrial conglomerate Votorantim, has received a US$325m loan from a bank syndicate led by US Citigroup Global Markets Inc. According to Nuh Cimento, Nuh Cimento will export US$100-130m cement and clicker annually for five years to Holcim. To this end, Nuh Cimento has started US$135m investment which will raise its clinker capacity to 4.1Mt from 2Mt, and cement capacity to 5.1Mt from the current 2.5Mt. Cement production in Eastern India has been severely hit due to an acute shortages of railway trucks required to transport clinker. Production was hit the hardest in the past two months.
