Gujarat Ambuja Q2 net drops

Taiheiyo cash flow surplus

Taiheiyo Cement Corp expects to report a positive free cash flow of 76.9 billion yen on a consolidated basis for the year ending March 31, up 26 per cent from fiscal 2002.  The surplus would be the company's highest since merging with Nihon Cement Co. in October 1998.  Taiheiyo Cement's operating cash flow is projected to rise 12 per cent to 66.4 billion yen, and its net profit is estimated at 15 billion yen, an increase of 140 per cent.  Investment cash flow is seen rising 420 per cent to 10...

East African Portland problems

The Kenyan High Court has stopped the East African Portland Cement from meddling in a cement distribution contract.  Commercial Court Judge Mohammed Ibrahim on Tesday issued a temporary injunction barring the cement firm from breaching a three-year contract awarded to Donholm Rahisi Stores last year.  He also issued orders compelling the company to fulfil their part of the contract signed and executed on April 2, 2003. Good growth in Mexico

Tabuk Cement to raise output

Saudi cement producer, Tabuk Cement Company, will raise its daily cement output to 5700t, it was reported on January 14, 2004. The expansion will be carried out under a contract, signed by TCC's managing director, Abdullah Khadar Badwi, in December 2003 with German suppliers. After the expansion, the company's cement capacity will stand at 260tph.  TCC has already successfully completed an expansion project, which increased its plant's daily clinker capacity to 4000tpd from 3,500tpd.

South African cement sales

Cement volumes rose by 13.9 per cent y/y in December to 671,525t after increasing by only 6.8 per cent y/y in November to 875,285t and compared with a 5.9 per cent y/y gain to 6.642Mt in the first nine months of 2003, data released by the Cement &  Concrete Institute (CNCI) showed. New ABB contract

ABB has been involved in the planning, construction and commissioning of QCC Lines Nr. 1 & 2 since 1980, which was, coincidently, the beginning of QCC. IHI was awarded the contract in September 2003. Chile sales rising

Local cement deliveries in Chile grew 4.6 per cent in 2003 to 3.62Mt, according to a report by local financial firm CB Capitales. Argentine Juan Minetti

Argentine cement producer Juan Minetti will make investments totalling $1.5m to restart clinker production at its Yocsina facility, Cordoba province, northern Argentina. The clinker line has been out of operation for two years and its re-start will create 66 new jobs.  Juan Minetti plans to increase its cement production until May 2004, due to the increase in cement demand in the country. The cement demand in Argentina has increased by 25 per cent in 2003, compared to 2002.
