Vietnam estimated to produce 7.8Mt in January

Vietnam’s General Statistics Office has estimated that the country produced 7.8Mt of cement in January 2019. This figure represents a 5.9 per cent YoY increase, but is down 1.6 per cent MoM. Revised figures for 2018 show that the country produced 90.2Mt in the full-year period, up 9.7 per cent YoY.

Colombian grey cement market stable in 2018

Dispatches in the Colombian cement market advanced 2.6 per cent to 0.973Mt in December 2018 from 0.949Mt in December 2017, according to the country’s national statistics office, DANE. Romanian cement market valued at EUR650-700m in 2018

The value of the Romanian cement market is estimated between EUR650m-700m (US$743m-800m) and is primarily supported by three large players: LafargeHolcim, HeidelbergCement and CRH. The three cement majors reported around RON3bn in total sales in 2018, representing a YoY rise of 10 per cent. LafargeHolcim’s Romanian operations were valued at EUR633m, followed by CRH (EUR469m) and HeidelbergCement (EUR410m).

CMA agrees wage pact with unions

Members of the Cement Manufacturers' Association (CMA) of India and the federation of major trade unions have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a wage pact that could raise gross pay, dearness allowance and service weightage. The State Bank of Pakistan on Tuesday released its first quarterly report on the State of Pakistan’s economy for FY19. Turkmenistan starts sulphate-resistant cement production

Turkmenistan has produced its first batch of 7000t of sulphate-resistant cement from local materials, according to Trend. Ukraine cement output slips 1% in 2018

The production of cement in Ukraine has fallen by one per cent to 8.926Mt in 2018 when compared with the previous year, according to the State Statistics Service. In 2017 Ukrainian cement producers manufactured 9.307Mt of cement, up 2.3 per cent YoY. In December 2018, domestic output decreased by 19.9 per cent YoY to 355,000t while MoM the drop was 50.4 per cent.

Cement demand in Vietnam slips 1% YoY

Total cement demand in Vietnam fell to 5.828Mt in December 2018, down by one per cent YoY, but up three per cent when compared with November 2018, according to the latest data by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). A successful definitive feasibility study has been carried by Mayur Resources Ltd for a cement plant near Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
