Peru's cement market expands 4% in 2018

Cement consumption in Peru increased 5.8 per cent YoY to 1.02Mt in December 2018, according to the latest data from Peru’s cement association, Asocem. Cement production remained largely stable in December 2018 at 906,000t, up 0.9 per cent YoY and 0.6 per cent MoM. Clinker output rose 2.1 per cent YoY to 913,000t and 6.9 per cent MoM from 855,000t. Kenya is stuck in a spiral decline of cement demand with sales continuing to plumit in the first 9M18. According to official data the country's cement consumption fell by 113,096t to 4.13Mt in the first 9M18, compared to 4.24Mt in the first 9M17. Ivorian cement output up to 2.5Mt in 2017

Cement production in Côte d’Ivoire has increased from 2.5Mt in 2015 to 3.5Mt in 2017, according to Abidjan.net. In addition, with an XOF73bn (US$127.5m) investment into new cement plants and upgrading old facility as well as growing demand due to major public works projects, cement producers have lifted their capacity to 7.2Mta in 2017. Furthermore, with the commissioning of an additional seven units expected in 2019, cement capacity is set to rise to 9.4Mta by the end of this year.

Mayotte expects the arrival of CEM II/AM42.5 cement

In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, total cement deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2018 increased two per cent YoY to 1,088,196t from 1,067,145t in the 4Q17, according to Cemsuisse, the Swiss cement association. Demand for cement in Morocco has fallen 3.7 per cent YoY in 2018 to 13.287Mt, from 13.791Mt in 2017, according to data from the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism.
