Puerto Rican cement sales increase 3% in January

Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased by 3.3 per cent in January 2019 when compared with January 2018, according to news service Sin Comillas. The latest rise represents the 13th consecutive increase in monthly sales. In 2018 sales surged by 38.9 per cent, the first annual increase since 2012.

Bolivia-based cement producer Ecebol is finalising construction of its plant at Jeruyo, Oruro. The company expects the start production tests at the end of the month. In the first nine months of 2018, cement production in Turkey decreased by 1.6 per cent compared to the previous year, reports The Turkish Cement Association (TÇMB). Puerto Rican cement demand rose 14% in December 2018

Cement sales in Puerto Rico advanced 13.5 per cent to just over 1m bags of 42.5kg (42,500t) in December 2018 when compared with December 2017, according to the country’s Planning Board. Cement consumption in Peru is predicted to expand by around 6.5 per cent in 2019, according to Scotiabank. Total Portland and blended cement deliveries in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced by 5.2 per cent YoY to 9.9Mt in October 2018, according to data by the US Geological Survey (USGS).
