Vietnam cement sales rise 5% in March

Vietnam sold an estimated 7.96Mt of cement in March, representing a 4.5 per cent MoM increase and 25 per cent of the full-year target, according to the Vietnam Building Material Association. Foreign direct investment in Pakistan's cement sector rises

Pakistan cement and construction industry have received a foreign direct investment (FDI) of US$516.07m during first eight months of FY17-18 (July 2017-February 2018), compared to US$190m received in corresponding months of last fiscal year. Cement demand in Spain shows double-digit growth

Cement demand in Spain expanded by 11 per cent in the 12 months up to January 2018 when compared with the year-ago rolling year, according to the new Cement Barometer, prepared by Oficemen, the country’s cement association. The latest figure has seen domestic consumption rise for 11 consecutive months with YoY double-digit increases noted in the past two months. However, cement and clinker exports have continued their decline, falling 10 per cent in 2017.

Egypt exports rise 79% in January

Egypt’s cement exports increased 79 per cent in January 2018 to reach US$7m, compared to US$4m in the year-ago period, according to a report from the country's Export Council for Building Materials. Lafarge Cement Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Lafarge Malaysia, has been awarded a MYR270m (US$68.92m) cement supply contract by the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project. Cement demand in Peru increased by 1.4 per cent YoY in February 2018 to 0.824Mt from 0.812Mt, according to the latest data by Asocem, the country’s cement association.
