Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City has proposed Vietnam's Ministry of Construction to adjust its cement development plan, so that no new cement projects will be licensed in the metropolis and existing plants will be relocated. The Fijian government has announced that cement can now be imported from overseas at zero-rated duty, according to local press reports. Vietnam sold 33.27Mt of cement in the first five months of this year, an increase of six per cent YoY, fulfilling 41.58 per cent of the whole-year target, the country's Ministry of Construction said. Kohat Cement Co is to construct a new 7800tpd production line at its cement plant Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange on 6 June 2017. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico in March 2017 were about 7.5Mt, slightly less than sales in March 2016, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported yesterday.
