Pakistan's cement industry dispatches to domestic markets during May 2017 stood at 3.399Mt compared to 3.065Mt during same month last year. Holcim Ada plant (LafargeHolcim group) unveiled its upgraded plant at its Ada, Oklahoma, USA, after a three-year modernisation project. A boom in the French housing market is fuelling domestic cement demand. Karen National Union received a petition by nearly 1000 residents from Mon State asking to cancel a quarry and a cement factory planned for construction in a mountain pass, near the township of Thaton, Myanmar. Vietnam output up 8.1%

Vietnam produced 33.6Mt of cement in the first five months of this year, up 8.1 per cent from a year earlier, including 7.7Mt in May, up 12.1 per cent, according to latest data of the government-run General Statistics Office. In the first four months, Vietnamese cement producers manufactured 25.9Mt of cement, according to the office’s revised figure.
