Volyn Cement reelects Zelano as Supervisory Board Chairman, Ukraine

Volyn Cement has reelected Paolo Zelano to chair its supervisory board for three years, the company said in a press release. In addition, the shareholders replaced supervisory board member Plack Heiko Otto with Karl Heinz Paul Richard Kasch for three years. Buzzi Unicem’s Dyckerhoff subsidiary operates the Volyn works which is situated at Rivne in the west.

Ecuador first-half sales reach 2.88Mt

Ecuador cement sales reached 2.88Mt in the first six months of this year, the Institute of Cement and Concrete (INECYC) has reported. In June 2015, dispatches reached 488,777t – an increase of 2.45 per cent compared to 477,111t in the month before, the data reveals.

Shiva Cement first quarter dispatches up 16% YoY

India-based Shiva Cement's dispatches of cement and clinker during the first quarter of FY15-16 rose by 16 per cent YoY, the company said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Cement consumption in Spain reached 5.6Mt in the first half of 2015, reflecting an 8.6 per cent increase YoY, according to the latest data from cement association Oficemen. Thatta completes modernisation project, Pakistan

Thatta Cement on 13 July 2015 successfully started clinker production from its modernised plant situated in Thatta district, Sindh province, the company informed the Karachi Stock Exchange. Moroccan cement consumption fell a further 6.3 per cent YoY to 1.16Mt in June following a similar decrease in May. This brings cement demand over the first six months of this year down 1.3 per cent to 7.3Mt, with the decline mainly attributed to a slow real estate market. Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico reached 7.8Mt in May, according to preliminary results from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Of the total domestic shipments accounted for 6.96Mt and imports 815,555t.
