Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines and Taiwan remained among major importers of Vietnamese clinker and cement in the first four months of this year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said. Quinn Cement Ltd has been fined EUR2000 plus costs after the company pleaded guilty to having previously failed to control dust emissions from its plant in Ballyconnell, Ireland. The chairman of the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has suggested that the one per cent custom duty on the import of cement be increased to 25 per cent to curb imports, citing   in particular imports from Iran. Kerneos India held a groundbreaking ceremony for a 30,000tpa greenfield calcium aluminate cement plant in the southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh (AP). Bosnia-based Tvornica Cementa Kakanj (TCK) said its shareholders have approved distributing BAM16.2m (EUR8.3m) as dividend. The HeidelbergCement group company said in a statement issued after a shareholders meeting on Tuesday that is produced 420,000t of cement in 2014, down 11.8 per cent from 476,000t a year earlier. Spain: April cement demand up 13% YoY

Cement consumption in Spain has expanded by 13.3 per cent to 961,712t in April 2015 when compared with April 2014, according to cement association, Oficemen. For the first four months, domestic demand increased by 9.7 per cent YoY to 3,514,175t “Although the data are starting to look much better, we know a lot of work remains to be done, because we do not expect to achieve a full recovery before the end of the next decade,” said Aniceto Zaragoza, Oficemen CEO.

Moroccan cement orders increased 3.35 per cent in April to 1.38Mt from 1.33Mt in April 2014. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), the country’s leading cement producer, said it sold about 2.24Mt of cement and clinker in April, down 3.1 per cent from a year ago.
