Tanzania Portland Cement (TPCC), part of the HeidelbergCement Group, said that it its production targets will not be deterred by the ongoing “illegal importation” of cement into the east African country. McInnis Cement to build Bronx warehouse, USA

McInnis Cement plans to build a US$40m distribution warehouse along the East River in the Bronx, New York, to help develop the borough's waterfront and reduce road traffic. McInnis Cement will transport cement down the river from Quebec in 35,000t loads. Spain: 1Q15 cement demand up 8.5% YoY

Spanish cement consumption increased 8.5 per cent YoY to 2,553,962t in the first quarter of 2015. In March cement demand expanded by 12.3 per cent to 983,210t, according to cement association Oficemen. Fiscal 2015 export price negotiations between major Japanese cement producers and customers in Asia have concluded with prices remaining virtually unchanged from the high level of fiscal 2014 on the back of robust demand, according to a Nikkei report. Ahangarancement JSC, part of the Eurocement Group, produced 400,500t of cement in the first quarter of 2015, according to data released by its parent company. In the reporting period, the plant produced 242,489t of clinker. Shipments over the Jan-March 2015 period reached 388,397t, exceeding the target figure by 11 per cent. 

New contract for Boldrocchi Ecologia in Egypt

Boldrocchi Ecologia has signed a new contract with Tourah Portland Cement, a subsidiary of Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC), for revamping of the whole Line #9 de-dusting units at the Tourah plant in Cairo. The turnkey contract includes new kiln and raw mill bag filters, bypass bag filter, clinker cooler heat exchanger and bag filter with new exhaust fans. Peru cement sales down 1%, exports up 50% in March

Peru’s cement dispatches fell one per cent YoY to 806,000t in March as public spending was down and rains affected the construction industry, according to cement association Asocem. Regional and municipal governments saw their spending cut by 30 and 61 per cent, respectively. Output in the country’s cement plants increased two per cent to 861,000t when compared with March 2014.
