Southern Province Cement Co has completed 70 per cent of the third line of its Tihama plant, according to the Tadawul website. Project delays have been caused by the difficulties the contractor to obtain the necessary working visas required, but the project is now expected to be complete on 30 March  2015.

Spain’s cement consumption fell by a further three per cent in August 2014 to 819,249t. Saudi cement dispatches for August 2014 climbed to 3.96Mt, an increase of 29.8 per cent YoY and 47.8 per cent MoM, AlJazira Capital has stated in a report citing the data issued by Yamamah Cement Co. Suez Cement diversifies fuel sources

Suez Cement, part of the Italcementi group, is working towards diversifying its fuel sources with coal to be used in one of its factories before year-end.  The company will begin using coal next November at its factory in Suez, company CEO Omar Mehanna said.
