Lafarge Pakistan net sales rise 7% YoY

Releasing further details on its 2013 performance, Lafarge Pakistan Cement said it saw net sales grow by seven per cent to PKR10.302m (US$105m) from PKR9624m. The company increased the use of alternative fuels from 28 per cent in December 2012 to 32 per cent in 2013. Lucky Cement begins production at Iraq works

Pakistan producer Lucky Cement has started production at its 0.87Mta joint venture grinding plant in Basra, Iraq. Lucky Cement CEO, Muhammad Ali Tabba, told local press that production started in February. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon attended a groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a greenfield cement plant in Gayur-Sughdcement, in the Bobojonghafourov district, Sughd province. Hetauda Cement hikes prices, Nepal

The board of Hetauda Cement Industries Ltd decided on Tuesday to raise the price of cement due to increased raw material costs. The Nepalese-based cement producer is to increase prices by NPR28.25/bag (US$0.30), the Kathmandu Post reported. Following the revision, the price of a bag of cement will cost NPR684.78 for dealers while development projects it will be NPR696.08. Consortium awarded Oruro contract, Bolivia

German-Spanish consortium (ThyssenKrupp) Polysius-Sacyr-Imasa has been awarded the US$244m contract for Ecebol’s new cement plant in Caracollo Norte, Oruro, Bolivia, according to the general manager of the Service for the Development of Productive Public Companies (SEDEM), Patricia Ballivián. Nyiragongo launched its first cement on 1 April 2014 during a ceremony presided over by the head of the provincial executive, Julien Paluku. Venezuela’s largest cement company, Venezolana de Cementos, saw production drop 13.1 per cent in 4Q13, according to data by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV).
