Vietnam April output estimated to have increased 12.65% YoY

Vietnam is estimated to have produce 6Mt of cement in April, up seven per cent from March and 12.65 per cent from a year ago, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said. In the four months to the end of April 2014, domestic cement output rose 7.6 per cent YoY to 19.4Mt, the office said in a monthly report. Mykolaivcement posts 2013 loss, Ukraine

CRH group company Mykolaivcement reported a loss of UAH63.234m (EUR4m) for 2013, with net revenue down by 10 per cent, or UAH61m, to UAH538.8m. In 2012, the Mykolaiv-based company suffered a loss of UAH66.9m. CRH acquired Mykolaivcement from Lafarge in April 2013 for EUR96m, a deal which made the Irish building materials major the leading cement producer in Ukraine. CRH also owns Podilsky Cement and in 2011 acquired a majority stake in Odessa Cement.

Price increase for Karachi market, Pakistan

Dangote Cement has broken ground on a new a 1Mta cement factory in Niger, state radio in the western African country announced on Thursday. President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou formally started building work on the factory on Wednesday at Keita, around 600km northeast of the capital Niamey. Zuari Cement on Tuesday held a groundbreaking ceremony for a 1Mta port-based cement-packing terminal at the Kochi port on the west coast of India.
