August dispatches in Chile fall 19%

Cement deliveries in Chile saw a 19.4 per cent drop in August 2022 to 299,855t, compared to 371,947t in August 2021, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). In the first eight months of 2022, dispatches were down 11.5 per cent YoY to 2,549,139t versus 2,879,749t in the 8M21.

Morocco sees deliveries decline 16% in September

Members of Morocco’s cement association, APC, have seen their total cement deliveries decrease by 15.8 per cent to 1,174,683t in September 2022, according to IPSOS data. In September 2021 deliveries reached 1,395,542t. In the January-September 2022 deliveries declined by 8.3 per cent YoY to 9.383Mt from 10.237Mt in the 9M21. APC members supplying delivery data include Asment de Temara , Ciments de l’Atlas , Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc .

Brazil's cement market contracts in September

Brazilian total cement sales declined by 3.8 per cent YoY to 5.5Mt, according to the country’s cement association, SNIC. Per working day, sales fell by 3.5 per cent YoY to 238,000t. Within Brazil sales reached 5.483Mt, down 3.5 per cent YoY, in September 2022. Argentina’s cement market expanded 9.2 per cent YoY but contracted 1.1 per cent MoM to 1,212,814t in September 2022, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. Domestic producers manufactured 1,217,796t of cement, up 8.6 per cent YoY but down 1.1 per cent MoM. Unprecedented fall in global cement output

The biggest fall in worldwide cement production in two decades has been recorded, according to the World Cement Association (WCA). The WCA reports that global cement output fell eight per cent YoY to 1.9bnt in the first six months of 2022. Cement production in Italy fell by 13 per cent YoY in July 2021, according to the country’s construction chamber, Federbeton. When compared with the 2015 base index production the value increased from 94 in June 2022 to 100 in July. Grey cement consumption in Colombia grew by 8.4 per cent YoY in August 2022 to 1.19Mt from 1.098Mt, according to the country’s statistics office, DANE. Of this total, bulk shipments were up 12.2 per cent while bagged cement saw a 6.6 per cent increase.
