Colombian cement market expands 2% in September

Cement dispatches in Colombia increased 2.1 per cent YoY to 1.188Mt in September 2022 when compared with September 2021, when 1.164Mt of cement were dispatched, according to the country’s statistics agency, DANE. Pakistan cement dispatches fall 19% in October

Cement dispatches in Pakistan fell for the fourth month in a row in October, coming in at 4.25Mt, compared to 5.22Mt in October 2021, down 18.5 per cent. According to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, local dispatches declined 15.5 per cent YoY from 4.6Mt in October 2021 to 3.89Mt in the same month this year. Italy saw cement output decline by eight per cent YoY in August 2022, according to the country’s construction chamber, Federbeton. When compared with the 2015 base index production the value dropped from 100 in July 2022 to 61 in August. Cement sales in Pakistan in the first four months of FY22-23 are expected to decline by 21-25 per cent compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association. A search for 12 missing crew members continues off the coast of Taiwan after their cement carrier sank. The 10,000dwt Xing Shun No 1, built in 2014, sank on Monday, 31 October, on the east side of the Changhua channel in the Taiwan Strait. The Panama-flagged ship had 17 seafarers on board. Total cement dispatches in Vietnam surged by 25 per cent YoY to 4,631,353t in September 2022, according to data published by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Cement consumption in Vietnam increased by 37 per cent YoY in August 2022, according to data published by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). VICEM sales improved by 39 per cent YoY to 1,555,599t in August, while VNCA-affiliated companies saw their combined sales surge by 68 per cent YoY to 10,150,041t. Spain’s cement market contracted by 3.4 per cent YoY in September to 1,245,816t, according to Oficemen, the Spanish cement association.
