Portland and blended cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico remained stable at 9.6Mt in July 2022 when compared with July 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Cement consumption was the highest in Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Georgia received together 37.5 per cent of July shipments. Cement price in Ziguinchor falls to XOF88,000

The Regional Consumer Council (CRC) of Ziguinchor (South), Senegal, set the sale price of cement at XOF88,000 (US$129.81)/t following a meeting with stakeholders. A bag of cement will be sold at XOF4400/t. The new price, which represents a XOF2000 decrease, will be applied through the Ziguinchor region and first displayed in the various cement distribution locations, according to Ousmane Ka, head of the regional trade department.

Iran’s cement market expands 17% in August

Iranian cement demand increased 16.6 per cent to 4.98Mt in August 2022 from 4.27Mt in August 2021, according to the Iranian Cement Association. Domestic cement output picked up by 2.7 per cent YoY from 4.79Mt to 4.92Mt while clinker output increased 10.6 per cent YoY from 5.08Mt to 5.62Mt in August 2022. Kenyan cement consumption grew 18 per cent in the half year ended June, driven by increased construction activities in the private sector that defied a surge in cement prices, according to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
