Cement demand in Colombia slipped by 0.6 per cent YoY in July 2022 to 1.125Mt from 1.132Mt in July 2021, reports the country’s statistics office, DANE. Ghana-based Dzata Cement has urged the government to grant waivers on VAT charged on cement raw materials. Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) estimated a decline in Pakistan cement dispatches in August and July-August 2022 (2MFY21-22) as the country experiences economic challenges, rising inflation, political unrest and heavy rains due to floods. Cameroon government lowers price of cement

The government of Cameroon has announced a decrease in the price of bagged cement. The drop comes in view of the country’s increasing cement production capacity, according to the Ministry of Commerce. As a result, the price of a bag of 42.5 R-grade cement will fall to XAF4800 (US$7.26) from XAF5100 in Douala and from XAF5400 to XAF5100 in Yaoundé. Cement output in Italy fell by 16 per cent YoY in June 2021, according to the country’s construction chamber, Federbeton. When compared with the 2015 base index production the value dropped from 104 in May 2022 to 94 in June. Vietnam’s cement market expanded six per cent to 5,199,736t in July 2022 when compared with July 2021, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Cement sales in Indonesia slipped two per cent to 5,438,865 in June 2022 from 5,551,489t in June 2021, according to the Indonesian cement association, ASI. Puerto Rican cement sales fell 15.7 per cent YoY in July 2022 to 1.12m bags of 42.6kg, or 47,712t, according to the country’s Institute of Statistics.
