By 2017, Algeria’s Aïn El Kebira cement plant will double its current cement 1Mta capacity as it adds a new 1Mta line. Arabian Cement Company (ACC) has taken all the steps needed to make the switch from gas to coal and refuse derived fuel, according to the company's chief. Citadel Capital announced that ASEC Minya (formerly the Arab National Cement Company), a key subsidiary of portfolio company ASEC Cement, has started the production of clinker at its 2Mta cement plant in Minya. Medina Cement begins trial production of new grinding plant

Newly-listed Saudi Arabian cement manufacturer Medina Cement said it has started trial production at its new grinding plant. The new facility has a capacity of 130tph and the trial period will last 2-3 months. Medina Cement offered 94.6 million shares, or 50 per cent of its capital, in an IPO in September 2012.

Vietnam production rises 7.4% in first five months

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 23.5Mt of cement in the first five months of 2013, up 7.4 per cent from the same period of last year, the General Statistics Office has said.
