Construction work at Sephaku Cement’s new Aganang plant near Lichtenburg is gathering pace, a company official has said. Engineering News (EN) reported Aganang project manager, Werner Kieweg, as saying that its Chinese contractor, Sinoma International Engineering, currently had about 238 Chinese employees on site and about 38 local workers. Colombian cement production and dispatches have continued to rise in the first two months of 2012, however, uncertainty exists over near-term forecasts as the La Niña weather effect brings heavy rains to the country. Holcim Philippines expects to achieve growth of 5-6 per cent this year, chief operations officer Roland van Wijen has said, following a challenging 2011.
